A child recently asked me some very insightful questions
about architecture and the environment.  Her questions
began with "Why is it that...?" and ended with her
own observations "But now..."

The power of her questions, and her undeniable insight,
prompted me to create this place of simple truths.

“Why is it that people say, 'It is important to look closely
at the world around you'
— but now, many places where
you go don't have ceilings, just pipes and metal painted
black — Are we not supposed to look up anymore?

“The story of the vinyl siding salesman who goes into
small towns and destroys their character — has for years
been a powerful example of poor quality and the loss of
integrity.  Now, a large percentage of our homes and other
buildings have vinyl siding — Are character, quality, and
integrity not important anymore?

Tom Jackson

“When you look at a Hollywood set, where only the front
is designed — you say it's just a facade.  When you look at
most homes today — the fronts are minimally designed, and
their sides and backs are sterile — Is our thinking as
blatantly superficial as our architecture?
