I believe architecture is our most complex and powerful
art form.  It is much more than the single building that stands
alone, or the many that form our cities.

Architecture is a designed environment that is capable of
infinite possibilities — an environment that coalesces with our
lives as they unfold within it.

The architectural and natural environments are stimuli
that we perceive through our sensory systems.  How we order
and control those stimuli determines our well-being, and
indeed, our reality.

Throughout our lives, most of our experiences are
influenced by architecture.  It is where our lives began, and
where we learned of the world around us.  It is where we go
to work, and it is the place that we call home.  It is where
life's adventure unfolds, and where we realize our dreams.
And when we reach the end of this remarkable coalescent
relationship — it is where we will say our last good-bye.

We must embrace the profound power that architecture
possesses.  As an individual building — or when massed as a
city — it shapes the lives, and therefore the reality, of all
who interact with it.
